Frequently asked questions

How long does the process take? We offer two types or service: the regular and express. At initial consultation, should you wish to go ahead, we offer the option to have the impression taken at the end of the appointment following signing of all consent forms. Following this, the manufacture can be splint into 3 separate appointments (wax trial and gaze poitioning, painting and fit) spaced according to your and clinic availability, or can be offered as an 'express' with manufacturing stages completed in one day followed by a separate fitting.

What's included in the initial consultation? Your first appointment includes a comprehensive assessment, discussion of your needs, explanation of the process, filling of relevant consent forms, impressions and initial measurements.

How often should I replace my prosthetic eye? While each case is unique, we typically recommend reviewing your prosthetic eye every 3-5 years, with regular maintenance checks annually. This does not mean to say you will require a new prosthesis so soon, but the prosthesis ought to be reviewed regularly to ensure it is still serving you well.

What maintenance is required? Regular cleaning and professional check-ups help maintain the appearance and comfort of your prosthetic eye. We'll provide detailed care instructions and ongoing support.
